Caroline Arnold is the award winning author of 170
books for children. Until she was ten she
lived at North East Neighborhood House, a settlement house in Northeast Minneapolis,
now East Side Neighborhood Services. The 38 chapters of her book range from her
first days at the NENH nursery school, to after school clubs and community
holiday celebrations at the settlement house, family and school life, and
summers at Camp Bovey. Few families lived in settlement houses as Caroline’s
did. When her family moved out, it was the end of an era
