–was born in Pennsylvania but grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she loved to ice skate in winter and swim in summer.

–loves to travel and has been to all the continents of the world except Antarctica.

–is an avid bird-watcher, and writes about condors, sparrows, ostriches, penguins, and even chickens.
