I am just back from Oakland and helping my brother Tom Scheaffer hang his show of watercolor paintings at the Blue Dot Cafe in Alameda (the same place I exhibited my art last year and the year before.) His art--mostly California landscapes--looks great!  It will be up for six weeks.  If you are in the Bay Area stop by to see his paintings and have a delicious breakfast or lunch.  The Blue Dot is at 1910 Encinal Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501.

Watercolor Paintings at the Blue Dot

Thomas Scheaffer enjoys using nature as his subject matter.  The eleven paintings in this exhibit are watercolors and mixed media.  Most of them depict scenes from the northern California seascape and landscape. A few are scenes from Italy and northern Wisconsin.  Thomas received his BA in art at Humboldt State University.  He is certified as an art teacher, and has taught twenty-five years in California schools, most recently at Lu Sutton School in Novato.  His work has been exhibited in Mill Valley, Novato, Santa Barbara, and San Diego.

New Art Show at the Blue Dot

My art show is up at the Blue Dot Café in Alameda and last Saturday we had a lively opening reception.  While the adults chatted, viewed the art, and enjoyed snacks and drinks, the children, supervised by my brother Tom (an artist himself and a third grade teacher), colored, cut and pasted and made their own wonderful art creations.  It was a very enjoyable party and I thank all of you who came to celebrate with me!  And special thanks to James and Megan Hume, owners of the Blue Dot, who have now invited me twice to exhibit at their wonderful well lighted café with walls perfect for setting off my art. The show includes prints of the cut paper illustrations from my animal books published by Picture Window Books as well as original art from my folding books for young children, Who Has More? and Who Is Bigger?  The show will be up for six weeks, until February 29th, so if you are in the Bay Area, please stop by the Blue Dot to take a look and sample their delicious food. Art Show Opening

The show at the Blue Dot is up! The opening reception was a great success attended by friends, family, art lovers and neighbors of the Blue Dot. We had a craft table for the children, who created some very colorful penguins and koalas with crayons and cut paper. The show will be up until November 5th. If you live in the Bay Area, stop by and see it and enjoy the delicious food at the Blue Dot. It is open for breakfast and lunch and features yummy home baked pastries and excellent coffee.
